set_gridparams_GFDLgrid module

set_gridparams_GFDLgrid(lon_of_t6_ctr, lat_of_t6_ctr, res_of_t6g, stretch_factor, refine_ratio_t6g_to_t7g, istart_of_t7_on_t6g, iend_of_t7_on_t6g, jstart_of_t7_on_t6g, jend_of_t7_on_t6g, verbose, nh4, run_envir)

Sets the parameters for a grid that is to be generated using the legacy “GFDLgrid” grid generation method (i.e., when GRID_GEN_METHOD: "ESGgrid").

Parameters:
  • lon_of_t6_ctr (float) – Longitude of the center of tile 6 (in degrees).

  • lat_of_t6_ctr (float) – Latitude of the center of tile 6 (in degrees).

  • res_of_t6g (int) – Number of grid cells in either of the two horizontal directions (x and y) on each of the six tiles of the parent global cubed-sphere grid (e.g., 48, 96, 192, 384, 768, 1152, 3072).

  • stretch_factor (float) – Stretching factor used in the Schmidt transformation applied to the parent cubed-sphere grid. Setting the Schmidt stretching factor to a value greater than 1 shrinks tile 6, while setting it to a value less than 1 (but still greater than 0) expands it.

  • refine_ratio_t6g_to_t7g (int) – Cell refinement ratio for the regional grid. It refers to the number of cells in either the x or y direction on the regional grid (tile 7) that abut one cell on its parent tile (tile 6).

  • istart_of_t7_on_t6g (int) – i-index on tile 6 at which the regional grid (tile 7) starts.

  • iend_of_t7_on_t6g (int) – i-index on tile 6 at which the regional grid (tile 7) ends.

  • jstart_of_t7_on_t6g (int) – j-index on tile 6 at which the regional grid (tile 7) starts.

  • jend_of_t7_on_t6g (int) – j-index on tile 6 at which the regional grid (tile 7) ends.

  • verbose (bool) – Flag to print out additional informational messages

  • nh4 (int) – The width (in number of cells) of the 4-cell-wide halo on tile 7, i.e. NH4 = 4.

  • run_envir (str) – Workflow mode (community or nco)
